Week 03/52

This week has definitely been a blessing. It feels like everything is going into place and i’m just doing me. All my hard work, long hours, and gray hair have paid off into the Air Force sending me to Vegas for a couple of weeks for work. Went to church today..its been awhile…but it felt good. I need to wake up early every sunday! Hard to wake up since im up all night on saturdays…but i definitely have to try harder. It definitely puts me in a better state of mind and gives me an opportunity to just relax, think, and talk about everything.

Only downside I had I Got flaked on twice. And both were on the last minute,by the same person, on the same day. If youre not gonna follow through with plans..don’t make them. I was highly looking forward to lunch/dinner, but your loss.

But with every negative there’s a positive..this resulted in geeking up, going HAM, on an epic Saturday Night. Lets just hope this week goes by smoothly :]

II feel like whenever I drive to or from the bay, I actually have the time to think about everything. Goals, people, problems.. Just everything going on in life and how I really feel sometimes. I know it seems like I’m always problem free, but that’s because I always try to look at the positives and always think that there’s someones out there who’s in a worse position than I am. Although I rarely talk about my problems, they’re definitely there. I just never know how to express them.

But these late night drives do make me want to blog about them in detail just to let it out haha. But I should probably pay attention to the road haha! 2- 3 more hours til I’m back in irvine!

Week 02/52

Thankful for last week to be awesome! Work was not stressful as it usually is and somebody turned in my wallet! Only downside was it snowed about 30in this weekend..so i didn’t get to do a WDYWT…
Highlights from this weekend:

-Kings Cup with crazy rules. ie: Animal noises, can’t get out of your chair, slapping yourself.
-Found a low key club spot that no americans really know about..felt like i walked straight into tokyo drift.
-Tried alot of new spots to eat..Mos Burger is delicious!
-And I GOT A SKYLINE! :)

Can’t wait for the snow to melt so i can feel safe about brnging my camera out again :]

Having negative and bitter feelings toward people takes up too much energy. I'm over it, man.

Week 01/52

I have been neglecting my camera and my tumblr, so i decided to post every sunday(Japan time) of photos throughout the week. Being in the military its hard to find time and just take pictures everyday. This week has been pretty crazy, time has just been flying, and my childhood seems more distant than ever before. Sometimes I feel like i’m losing myself, well more of trying to find myself. Just gotta keep pushing foreword and success will come. Anyways…this week has been crazy, blizzard, alot of good food, St. Patty’s day..and i lost my wallet. I hope someone turns it in tomorrow :/

The Best Camera.

The best camera is the one you have with you.

Thought of the day? Just as the italicized words below today’s image suggests, the best camera is the one you have with you! I’ve been getting a bunch of questions from tumblr in the passed two or three days from aspiring photographers who are hungry for knowledge, and as always - I’m willing to share what I know to benefit the greater good! One of the biggest things early photographers (or even experienced ones, as I know that I have fallen victim to this countless times…) lust for when taking on this beautiful art is equipment. They feel the urge for “better” gear so that their photos will turn out “better”. That, however, is not the case. When it comes to taking good pictures, I would (along with most everyone else) say that the gear makes up roughly 10% of your image, whereas the rest of it is up to the eye of the beholder. Think about it. The photographer is the one that looks into the viewfinder, chooses the settings, composes, adjusts the settings, recomposes, adjusts the settings even more, and ultimately releases a shutter actuation at the primary subject of focus. Yes, that is a mouthful, but it goes above and beyond that. Everyone has that one piece of equipment that they will always dream about owning, and so on and so forth. That’s probably escalated even more so with the releases of the newest Canon & Nikon professional bodies, the Canon 1DX and Nikon D4. I probably have multiple pieces of equipment that I still lust for, even with my already impressive setup that I’ve compiled together in the past three and counting years of learning and growing in love with this beautiful art. However, it has inevitably been my passion for what I do that has brought me here, and continues to keep me in love. There is no “best camera”, because the best camera is the one in your hands. You’re not going to be able to take any images at all with a camera that you don’t own, so even if you’re shooting with a measly point-and-shoot, or even an iPhone - don’t think that you can’t take good pictures simply because it’s not a “professional camera” or something like that. Because for the record, some images that you may see on an ad can be an image taken by an iPhone 4 or something like that. Believe me, I’ve seen it happen, and I know of some individuals who have done this in the past, and continue to do it. My advice for growing and aspiring amateurs/hobbyists/anyone is that you must stay passionate, and keep doing what you love. Motivate yourself and seek inspiration through your own images. Experiment every day and expand what you know.. Because with photography, you can virtually never stop learning. The best camera you can ever have is the one in your hands right now, and don’t let anyone, especially yourself, tell you otherwise.

Also, I will end this thought with a quote by a good friend (and superb photographer) of mine, who goes by the name of Rolo Tanedo:

“Try has failure built into it’s definition. Just do it. You can’t make a portfolio from excuses. The most powerful motivation is love, if money is the motivation, you’ll fail yourself.. you won’t be happy. When you love what you do, you do it well, the money will come.”

This year just flew by. One minute im in middle of nowhere America and the next i’m in Japan. My resolution last year was:

“No real resolution this year! Just gonna keep continue doing what i’ve been doing from 2010. Try to be the best that I can be. Try to make the best out of everything, stay positive, and never lose the motivation to ALWAYS improve in every aspect.”

I can’t say I lived up to my resolution however 2012 will be different. 2012 is going to be my year. This year i’m going to stay hungry for accomplishing and achieving more in my career, passions, family, friends, as well as self improvement. Going to rise and grind everyday. Hope your ready for my 2012.

As thanksgiving is starting for everyone in the states, it has ended for me. I feel blessed to have had the day off, spend time in a family environment, eat some delicious food, and more importantly..RELAX haha.

Past couple of weeks have been pretty stressful due to my new recent responsibilities at work, most stressful i’ve been in a long time. It even put the thoughts of leaving active duty in my mind. Felt good that someone that doesn’t work around me and doesn’t know about my stresses, told me he was in my shoes once, and that i just gotta stick through it..and do what i gotta do it..that in the end it would be rewarding. I had a good Thanksgiving..now time to play some MW3!
